7 Ways To Fight Acne Scars From Home

The acne is gone, but it left a bunch of scars

Scars left by acne can be beaten. In this article we’ll go over some of the popular home remedies for acne scars you can use.
Right from the outset, I’ll say that the positive effects of some of these treatments may be very subtle. These treatments need some time to work. They require persistence; and a photo diary is strongly recommended to see the overall progress and to help you judge how well it is working for you.

The following are seven home acne scar remedies available to you:

  1. Apply the freshly squeezed juice of fresh lemons or limes directly to your acne scars with the help of cotton ball. Leave it for sometime so that skin may soak up the juice and then wash it off. This home remedy of lemon/lime juice will reduce the appearance of the acne scars and blemishes by lightening them.
  2. Tomatoes. They are rich in vitamin A. Vitamin A slows the production of sebum, the stuff that causes acne. Tomatoes also have several antioxidants, which refresh and renew the damaged and scarred skin. Two for one; they fight acne and acne scars. They are also great for salads!
  3. A facial mask made from a paste of sandalwood and rosewater can be applied directly on the scarred area. You can leave the mask on while you sleep, or for just a couple of hours. Wash it off completely with cool water. If you discover that it dries your face too much; leave it on for less time or try using some milk to mix your paste as well.
  4. Honey is also very effective in treatment of acne scars. You can use honey as a face mask, or take it orally (or both!) Unprocessed, or raw honey works best for this. Repeated usage will dull that angry red your scar may have. Honey will moisturize and tighten your skin, making the scars less noticeable as well. Hint: apply your honey mask about 20 minutes before your shower!
  5. The gel or juice of Aloe Vera plants is highly useful in fading of acne scars. An aloe plant will grow well in your home, and you can get the gel straight from the source. Otherwise many branded cosmetic companies manufactures pure Aloe Vera gel, so you can choose the best cosmetic companies to get Aloe Vera gel.
  6. Use a facial mask made of a paste of fenugreek leaves. You can also boil fenugreek seeds in water and use the solution on acne scars when it cools down.
  7. Make a mixture of 1 tablespoon of sour cream, 1 tablespoon of yogurt, 1 tablespoon of oatmeal and also a few drops of lemon juice. Apply that directly on your acne scars. Leave it for 8-10 minutes and then wash it off. You have a great mixture of natural oil free moisturizers, beneficial bacteria, oil absorption and a natural lightener. Plus it almost sounds like a recipe for a healthy desert!

Two things to remember with home acne scar treatment: persistence and using something objective (like photos) to judge its effectiveness.
Oh, and don’t put lemon juice in your eyes, put boiling fenugreek seed water on your face, or dig your honey straight from a beehive :D
