IVF Implantation As An Infertility Treatment

In vitro fertilization or what is also known as IVF involves the fertilization of a human egg cell in a laboratory and the implantation of the embryo or the fertilized egg inside the uterus or the womb of a woman for a regular pregnancy and birth.Every now and then, an embryo that results from an in-vitro fertilization is frozen to be used later for IVF implantation.

In-vitro fertilization is a treatment procedure for women who have the difficulty to get pregnant. The procedure is used to help conceive and have a normal period of pregnancy. This procedure is also used for preventing the transmission of hereditary illnesses.Fertilization will not take place in the test tube but in a small container which is also known as perti dish.

Test tube baby is the more common name for the baby that resulted from an in-vitro fertilization. There are procedures that you have to take to produce a test tube baby.First would be to gather the eggs from the woman.  But before collecting them, the woman has to take special drugs that would stimulate ovulation. When the eggs are now ripe, the surgeon performs an operation to extract them.

The next phase of IVF implantation involves the fertilization of the egg and its development in the laboratory. After the egg is removed, it is taken to the lab where it’s placed in a special fluid for about 6 hours. The male partner or a sperm donor then supplies the sperm specimen. This must happen at least four hours after the eggs are collected. The sperm must be treated with special washing and incubation.  They are then placed together with the eggs and left for about eighteen hours. In following the procedure, the eggs are reexamined to see if it has fertilized.  They are then returned to culture for another twenty four hours.

Following the fertilization procedure, that grown fertilized egg will be transferred into the woman’s womb. For minimizing the risk of multiple pregnancies, only a few of the eggs are returned to the woman.
