Breathalyser
Breathalyzer tests for measuring alcohol in breath are a recommendable procedure for measuring blood or breath alcohol levels. On-site alcohol testing kits and electronic digital alcohol breathalysers are usefulfor use in the workplace, by healthcare professionals or for home use. Most people use them to check against the drink drive limit. In the UK this is 80mg/dl or 0.08% BAC (blood alcohol concentration).
Having a good method of checking alcohol levels is important in employee testing and to make sure that an individual is legal to drive the next morning. It can prevent accidents and improve the awareness of the dangers of driving the morning after drinking.
Electronic Breath Alcohol Testing Units
If you are screening for alcohol on a regular basis, it is more cost effective to purchase an electronic breathalyzer unit. Breathalysers use individually wrapped mouthpieces to ensure health and safety.
Don’t risk drinking and driving!
Breath Alcohol Tests – A very simple commercial version of the “blow in the bag” breath alcohol test kit used by the British Police.
The Home Office Approved personal Breathalyzer testing units are a portable modification of the basic roadside breath alcohol test used by the British Police Forces for a long time. It uses yellow crystals which turn green in the presence of any alcohol in breath in order to test patients to a pre-determined level.
This is the breathalyser most frequently used when carrying out pre-employment, random or accident based workplace employee drug and alcohol testing.
The most accurate time to carry out these tests is in the morning to see if you are under the limit enough to drive, this is because if you use them while you are still consuming alcohol the test won’t be accurate because alcohol will be in your stomach but not yet in your blood stream or breath, so you could be under the limit when you test yourself but 10 minutes later, you could be over the limit.
