Can Soda Pop Be Good for Your Health?

Popular opinion seems to be that soft drinks are by definition unhealthy. But could this, in fact, be a misconception?

In the United States, we have many flavored carbonated drinks which we call soda pop. It’s the carbonation process that puts the “fizz” in soda pop.

The quality and different tastes of various carbonated drinks, including soft drinks, is caused by the amount of dissolved CO2 which causes carbonic acid in the drink.  Click here for more carbonated water information.

In most soft drinks, carbonation is used to give these drinks their distinctive taste. The fizzy taste is caused by diluted carbonic acid and not caused by the bubbles as many believe.

Carbonated water, also known as sparkling water, is plain water into which CO2 gas has been dissolved, and is the primary ingredient of most “soft drinks” or “soda pop”.

In the past, these drinks were made at home by putting water in a seltzer bottle, then adding CO2. Club soda is identical to plain carbonated water or it may contain a small pinch of salt, or trace minerals. Home-made soda pop might taste salty because of these trace ingredients. Add some drops of concentrated flavors and what do you have? Soda pop.

If enough mineral content is present, we call the drink sparkling water. At allfreightfree.com you can discover — and purchase — a large assortment of calorie-free flavors to jazz up sparkling water with great tastes. This could be a great option for your family to drink instead of soda pop.
