Breakfast Ideas For A Healthy Lifestyle

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Considering that, here is a shortlist of breakfast ideas on what to have for a healthy breakfast:

1.One should have lots of fruits (like apples, bananas, oranges etc) as they are any time snacks and are easy to carry. They are filled with antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and fiber and give you energy immediatly.

2. One should always chose fiber rich cereals which are ready to eat and add some berries, nuts or seeds for nutrients.
1 cup of cereal with skimmed milk will provide about 120 calories and 4 grams of protein and 20 grams of fiber.

3. Cinnamon flavoured instant oatmeal makes a fulfilling snack food but be careful as many options may be loaded with sugar. You can add to the nutrient quotient by adding a handful of nuts and seeds of your choice. Instant oatmeal will provide about 120-140 calories plus fiber and protein; check your label for details.

Steel-cut oatmeal is probably the healthier choice, but if you are in a hurry, the instant kind will do fine (it doesn’t have as much fiber, but the other ingredients make up for that). If you’re using the non-instant oatmeal; after microwaving the oatmeal, add ground flaxseed, frozen blueberries, sliced almonds. You can add a little cinnamon and honey (not a lot) That’s four power foods, full of fiber and nutrients and protein and good fats, with only a couple of minutes of prep time.

If you want to lose weight then oatmeal is a great choice. First, it’s packed with fiber which helps you feeling fuller for longer period of time. Second, a recent study in the Journal of Nutrition reported that eating a breakfast made with “slow-release” carbohydrates—such as oatmeal or bran cereal—3 hours before you exercise may help you burn more fat. How? Eating “slow-release” carbohydrates doesn’t spike blood sugar as high as eating refined carbohydrates (think: white toast). In turn, insulin levels don’t spike as high. Since insulin plays an important role in signaling your body to store fat, having lower blood sugar levels helps you to burn fat.
